New Hellboy Mignola Comics!

Thanks to Abraham Sapien on the Hellboy Board for posting the following excerpt from issue #160 February 2005 of Wizard Magazine, page 81 (written by Jesse Thompson).

“Three years is a long time to be stuck underwater, but this summer, the long-awaited new Hellboy tale from Mike Mignola finally surfaces.

At the end of 2002’s Hellboy:The Third Wish #2, Hellboy was last seen unconscious at the bottom of the ocean. Although he’s appeared in “flashback” stories such as Hellboy Weird Tales and The Dark Horse Book of Witchcraft, the two-issue mini Hellboy:The Island finally reveals Hellboy’s fate while moving the character completely into the realm of folklore and mythology.

“With this mini-series it becomes very clear [for Hellboy],’You’re not one of the guys,” says Mike Mignola. “Hellboy’s entering this entirely new phase of his life, where it’s a much more bizarre world and the rules that apply to a human being don’t really apply to him anymore. Hellboy’s disappearing into the shadows more and more.”

The events of The Island will be followed by Hellboy: Darkness Calls, an extended mini written by Mignola with pencils by Lee Bermejo that hits in late 2005. Also, look for B.P.R.D.: The Black Flame, the third in a series of ongoing B.P.R.D. minis in which the team squares off against the villainous frogmen seen in Plague of Frogs.”
