According to Deadline, GDT will be developing the film, with an eye to potentially direct, for CBS Films. del Toro will produce the film alongside Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Elizabeth Grave.
The books were written by Alvin Schwartz, and caused a stir in 1984 when many felt they were too scary for children. The illustrations in particular are chilling, as done by Stephen Gammel. Guillermo owns some of the original artwork from the books, as he poses with a few in his selfie photo above.
Guillermo promises some of the artwork from the books will make their way into the film.
To answer some questions on Scary Stories- of course we WILL have Stephen Gammell’s imagery be preeminent on the film! Yeah!!
