Hollywood Reporter reports that the Don Murphy/Guillermo Del Toro produced film WHILE SHE WAS OUT has been picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay Entertainment.

The film will be released theatrically on December 12, and will be put out on DVD in 2009.

The film is written and directed by Susan Montford, and stars Kim Basinger.

Guillermo is set to be executive producer of While She Was Out a real-time thriller about a woman “who heads to the mall on Christmas Eve and ends up fighting for her life against four hooligans in a nearbye forest.” Kim Basinger is set to star.

This continues GDT’s trend of supporting young directors in independent features. The film will be the directorial debut of Susan Montford, using her script. The film will begin filming in January in Vancouver.
