PACIFIC RIM Up For Best SciFi Film, Best Director at 2014 Saturn Awards

Pacific_Rim_Kaiju_Featurette_21The Oscars may have passed on PACIFIC RIM, but the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films did not, nominating Guillermo Del Toro’s Mech/Kaiju film for Best SciFi Film and Best Director at the 40th Annual Saturn Awards.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films recognizes achievements in genre filmmaking in the categories of cinema, television and video.

In the Best SciFi Film category, PACIFIC RIM will be competing against ENDER’S GAME, GRAVITY, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, RIDDICK and STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS.

In the Directing category, the other nominees are J.J. Abrams (STAR TREK), Peter Berg (LONE SURVIVOR), Alfonso Cuaron (GRAVITY), Peter Jackson (THE HOBBIT: DESOLATION OF SMAUG) and Francis Lawrence (HUNGER GAMES).
