Guillermo Del Toro Highlights L.A. Film Festival

The Los Angeles Film Festival has announced that Guillermo Del Toro has been selected as Guest Director at the Los Angeles Film Festival.  As part of this role, Del Toro will present a film at the festival that was a significant influence in his life and follow it with a Q&A session.  In addition, DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK will close the festival on June 26th at Regal Cinemas Stadium 14 LA LIVE. 

“Guillermo del Toro is one of the most visionary directors of our time.  It’s an honor to welcome Guillermo back to our Festival as this year’s Guest Director and to unite our audiences with this extraordinary, consummate artist,” said Festival Director Rebecca Yeldham.  “Building on a tradition of providing our audiences with access to world-class artists and their work, we’re thrilled to announce this round of Festival additions.”

The screenplay for DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK was written by Del Toro and his writing partner Matthew Robbins.  The film is directed by Troy Nixey and stars Katie Holmes and Guy Pierce.
