GDT and Legendary Launches Halloween Contest with YouTube

Guillermo del Toro has introduced an innovative new contest conceived by Legendary Pictures and YouTube that will give popular YouTube channels the chance to develop their own film – with Guillermo himself as a consultant.

According to Variety, the “YouTube House of Horrors: A Legendary Halloween” will give individuals with channels on YouTube of at least 10,000 subscribers, and are part of the YouTube Partner Program, can use the YouTube Spaces sets, equipment and facilities for free to shoot a short film for the contest.  The sets will draw inspiration from Guillermo’s films – specifically CRIMSON PEAK.

In addition, the winner will have Guillermo on board as a creative consultant to develop a film around their concept.

The contest is a three-fold promotional event:  Legendary is drawing attention to its CRIMSON PEAK horror film, set for October of next year, while YouTube is promoting its YouTube Spaces facilities, which currently exist in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London, with a New York City location opening in November 2015.

The deadline for submission is October 27th.
