BOOK OF LIFE and GDT News Roundup – Fall 2014

bookoflife-dead Hey everyone – it is time for a complete news roundup of all things GDT.  What’s going on now and what’s coming up?  Find out below: THE BOOK OF LIFE – Certified Fresh THE BOOK OF LIFE is certified fresh by Rotten Tomatoes, with an 81% rating on the TOMATOMETER, and an 83% on the Audience Score.  According to BoxOfficeMojo, the film has grossed $50 million worldwide (matching its production budget).   All of this equates to a reasonably good performance for a mid-budget animated feature. PAN’S LABYRINTH – the musical Guillermo is still working on an English-language musical version of PAN’S LABYRINTH, with music by Gustavo Santaolalla and Paul Williams. Williams and Santaolalla also did music for THE BOOK OF LIFE. Guillermo has been quoted as saying that he hopes to hear “good news” soon on this project. Legendary YouTube Horror Contest Legendary has posted the contenders in the YouTube House of Horrors contest. One of these contenders will score a development deal with Legendary to expand their short – do you have a favorite? PACIFIC RIM 3? Guillermo gave this interesting update to Collider.com in regards to PACIFIC RIM 2:

Some of your favorite characters come back, some others don’t because we have decided that we’re going to shoot ambitiously and say ‘Let’s hope we have three movies,’ so some characters come in at the end of the second, hoping that it will ramp up on the third one.

Guillermo’s Schedule What is Guillermo working on?  Here it is, based on a consolidation of dates he has mentioned in several interviews: November, 2014 – Start on The Strain, Season 2.  Guillermo is not slated to direct any episodes, but will shooting with the creature unit, the action unit and the black-and-white Mexican luchador scenes. November 2014 – Februrary 2015 – Complete post production on CRIMSON PEAK and delivery.  Currently, the first assembly is complete, and about 20% of the effects. March – April, 2015 – Delivery working screenplay for PACIFIC RIM 2 with Zak Penn and Travis Beacham. April, 2015 – The mystery “black-and-white” small film shoot May-June, 2015 – Prep for PACIFIC RIM 2 October, 2015 – CRIMSON PEAK is released August-September 2015 – Preproduction for PACIFIC RIM 2 November/December 2015 – Production starts PACIFIC RIM 2 April 2017 – PACIFIC RIM 2 release in theaters
